What Can I Expect With PST?

Dr. Peter Pang may recommend the Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST™). A patented procedure requiring specialty training.

To perform this procedure, Dr. Pang makes a small hole using special instruments and loosens the gum tissue so he can move it to areas where the gums are receding. This treatment process is relatively simple and can be very effective for restoring the gum line without surgery. Dr. Pang can perform this procedure on one or several teeth in a single visit, and patients can enjoy immediate cosmetic benefits. Healing time is much shorter than traditional gum surgery, and there is minimal or no bleeding or pain.

This is a minimally invasive surgical alternative to traditional methods. The traditional methods can require cutting out tissue from your palette and stitching it into the gum recession area. While Dr. Pang has performed the traditional method in the past but recommends the less invasive approach of the Pinhole Procedure where possible. His patients who have had both methods performed (by Dr. Pang and/or specialist periodontists) have all reported a preference for the Pinhole method over the traditional.
